Badagry

 

Badagry (traditionally Gbagle) is an ancient town in Lagos State, Nigeria. It is strategically and conveniently between the city of Lagos and the border with Benin at Seme with access to all West African countries. 

 

Badagry is an ancient town brimming with history.  In the early 18th century Badagry served as a route for the Europeans when slaves were transported to the new destination of their buyers. It houses the cenotaph "Point of No Return", a place where the well was enchanted to ensure that slaves who drank from it forgot its destination.   It is also home to Nigeria’s first storey building

APA – The Ancient Kingdom

 

Apa Ancient kingdom was originated during the great western Awori movement and occupation on southern part of Yoruba land in the 12th century.  Apa Kingdom was established around 1250 AD.  Apa is a historic community in Badagry division of Lagos State and one of the oldest settlements in Badagry   A pa Kingdom, the acclaimed oldest ancient community in Badagry division of Lagos State falls under the Badagry West Local Council De­velopment Area (LCDA) of Lagos State.
